Indigo Cowl in Blue Twill
An modern exploration of an ancient technique. Indigo cowls are made from local Hudson Valley wool, wrapped with ikat resists and dyed in the warp chains before weaving. The dyeing method creates serendipitous patterns, revealed as the cloth is woven. The patterning resembles sound waves, blips on a radar, or disturbances in the atmosphere as they might appear on a data readout.
Woven in a twill weave (that’s the diagonal pattern, similar to jeans) with indigo wool.
