A glowy deep indigo handwoven panel anchors this sweater-size project tote. This maker’s project bag was made in limited quantity especially for A Woolen Affair in October 2026. This is one of the last two of our batch of twelve sweater-size tote bags.
Combining my handwoven fabric with waxed canvas and leather handles, it is both beautiful and functional. The outside features a zip pocket and slip pocket. The interior is lined with natural linen and includes a divided pocket. Top cinch section made from handwoven fabric coordinates with the front panel. Completely one of a kind and fully infused with the spirit of handmade.
The woven fabric is the result of experiments on an earth-toned wide turned twill warp. At the loom, I chose a palette of colors and wove intuitively, letting the proportions reveal themselves as the weaving progressed. Colors include deep indigo, and ochre, with a zinger of sky blue and peach. It is woven in turned twill, a structure where alternating warp-dominant and weft-dominant blocks create patterns - colors appear to overlap each other in the cloth.
Made in collaboration with Handmade by Kacie, who brought her eye for design, meticulous sewing skills and bag-making expertise to the project.
Dimensions: 10.5 inches wide, 5 inches deep, 14 inches tall. Overall height is 24” including handles.
